About Ketren Waites
Proud parents, Josh (a Clayton County Sheriff Investigator) and Tracy Waites (a fitness instructor and personal trainer at Gold's Gym) of Heron Bay, were so ecstatic when two years ago they were blessed with a vibrant and healthy baby whom they named Ketren. Also a baby brother to three older sisters, Lexi, Rayven and Karli who worship the ground he walks on, the family began once again enjoying the fun of parenthood with a newborn. His first smile, his first word, the first time he crawled and the long awaited first step. For what more could a family ask?
Then, a few months ago, Ketren’s parents noticed that he started limping and for the next few weeks it seemed to worsen. After several doctor appointments, they took him to Scottish Rite Hospital where a parent’s worst nightmare began. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. How could this happen to a little two-year-old boy?
Once diagnosed by the doctor, his treatment began immediately. His induction phase started with chemotherapy during the month of May. Unfortunately, the chemotherapy didn’t react as planned, which made the doctors categorize him as a high-risk patient. It was also determined that he was not eligible for any case study programs for his age group.
